What's being done? 29 architecture students at the Technical University of Munich have mastered a very special project: In two semesters in 2007, they not only planned a kindergarten in Orange Farm, a township south of Johannesburg in South Africa, but also built it themselves in six weeks.

What was successful? The Hirn Herz Hand eV (brain heart hand) association contributed donations to finance building materials and local construction workers. 100 children from the township were able to move from a windy corrugated iron hut riddled with bullet holes into a proper kindergarten.
