What's being done? Unlike municipal refugee shelters, the refugee shelter in Munich-Haidhausen, run by the Free State of Bavaria, lacked social support for its residents. The refugees primarily come from the Middle East, Africa, and Kosovo.

What was good? The Hirn Herz Hand eV (brain heart hand) association took it upon itself to organize and finance a German course. The participants were primarily mothers who were rarely able to leave the house due to childcare responsibilities. In addition, dedicated members of Hirn Herz Hand eV organized leisure activities. For example, together with the families from the refugee shelter, they went on a bike ride along the Isar River, took a trip to the zoo, and attended an FC Bayern Munich soccer match.
